Our Senior Pastor
Reverend Patrick Jonnathan Walker
is a native of Washington, DC. He was educated in the public school system of our Nation’s capital, graduating from McKinley Tech Senior High School. He is a graduate
of Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland, where he earned a
Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral Theology. He earned his Master of Divinity
degree from The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia
Union University. Pastor
Walker completed a preaching practicum at Regents College of Oxford
University in Oxford, England. Additionally, Pastor Walker was awarded
an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Sword of the Spirit Bible
Institute; and the Washington Baptist Seminary conferred upon him the
same doctoral honor. An avid learner, Pastor Walker is currently
pursuing his Doctor of Educational Ministry degree at The Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Reverend Walker began preaching God’s word at the age of 15, and was
granted a license to preach by his home church, the Isle of Patmos
Baptist Church in Washington, DC, under the leadership of the late
Reverend Dr. George B. Rogers.
Reverend Walker served three years of active military service with the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He received numerous citations for outstanding military and civic achievements. He was honorably discharged in July 1988. In January 1991, the historic Destiny Baptist Church in Martinsburg, West Virginia called him to serve as its Senior Pastor.
After ten years of
extraordinary service at Destiny, the late Reverend Dr. Robert L. Walls,
Sr. recommended Reverend Walker to the officers and members of The New
Macedonia Baptist Church, Washington, DC to become his Co-Pastor and
successor in the biblical model of Moses and Joshua in January 2001.
Reverend Walker was overwhelmingly elected as New Macedonia’s third
Pastor in June 2003.
Reverend Walker is a
much sought after teacher and preacher with a gift of administration.
He was selected to participate and completed the Lott Carey Pastoral
Excellence Program.
Additionally,
Reverend Walker is a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award, the
highest award for community service given by the Rotary Foundation and
Rotary International. He has conducted various revivals, crusades,
Christian Education workshops, lectures, and Bible study sessions
throughout the United States and abroad. He has ministered in Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, Haiti, South Africa,
and Kenya.
He serves as an instructor for the Congress of Christian Education
for the Baptist Convention of the District of Columbia and Vicinity, and
the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. Additionally,
Reverend Walker served as the 49th president of the Missionary Baptist
Ministers’ Conference of Washington DC & Vicinity. He also served as
president of the Baptist Convention of the District of Columbia and
Vicinity.
He is married to the very lovely former Miss Priscella Harris of
Norfolk, Virginia, who has proven to be an invaluable asset to the
ministry of her husband. They are blessed with two adult
children, Maya Bethany and Patrick Jonnathan, II. Reverend Walker is a
kind, Christian gentleman who is convinced that it is through the
preaching and teaching of God's Word that the body of Christ has power
to minister to suffering humanity and win them to Him!
